Fantastic class with an authentic and funny cooking teacher!
This was an absolutely amazing experience! Definitely the best of Bali. Wonderful to learn about Balinese cooking from a master, and everyone at the venue was perfectly lovely. I found out that I am a great Balinese chef. Who knew?!
The best experience we had in Bali was this cooking class!! The atmosphere was amazing, everything really well explained and the host is absolutely adorable and very welcoming❤️
We had an amazing experience of learning how to cook local Balinese dishes. I found it inspiring and informative. It has given me the confidence to try my hands on these dishes at home. Usually I shy away from this cuisine as the list of ingredients can be intimidating. But with the detailed explanation and suggestions for alternative ingredient substitutes, I see the versatility of the recipes. Highly recommend to try out the cooking class here!
Puspa, Made, Wayan and all staff from this class will give you the great Bali cooking class experience. I love that there's a sharing of information about Balinese cultures and traditions on top of their core services. I also love the free welcome drink, unlimited coffee/water, fast-paced activities and the clean kitchen and cooking materials. And for vegans like me, it's better to tell them right away about your preferences before the class. They are willing to adjust and change some of the ingredients just for you to taste all the dishes.
A most enjoyable experience from start to finish. After pickup at our residence, our small group of 8 went to the local morning market to learn about the herbs, spices, fruit, and vegetables we would later use to prepare our traditional dishes. When we arrived at the family compound that hosts this cooking class, we first learned about balinese traditions such as daily offerings and the functions and arrangement of temple elements and the family living spaces. Puspa greeted us warmly and gave an overview of our tasks ahead. Namely arranging, chopping, grinding, grilling, and combining the ingredients for several dishes, including our favorite peanut and "mother" sauce. Before we started, she asked about dietary restrictions and allergies and offered delicious options for each preference, of which there were several in our group. We used traditional balinese kitchen utensils to prepare our food, taking turns so everyone had plenty of opportunity to experience every step. Puspa topped it off with a simple and luscious banana cream desert. We all got a free recipe booklet. And I couldn't resist getting one of the fantastic balinese chopping knives 😋🔪 We all went home with a round belly and happy smiles!
